Math 7

Math 7

Understanding of operations with positive and negative rational numbers and use of variables in expressions. They write and solve one- and two-step algebraic equations and inequalities, and solve real-life and mathematical problems using algebraic equations. Students learn about percents, rates and ratios, and develop in their ability to recognize and apply proportional relationships. They solve problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and work with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume. Additionally, students learn about probability and the likelihood of chance events, and learn to draw inferences about populations based on samples.

Math 7 Integrated

This course is fully aligned with the Grade 7 NJ Student Learning Standards for Mathematics. It also includes some 8th grade standards so once completed, students can skip Math 8 and take Algebra 1 in 8th grade. We start by reviewing all operations of integers and then apply it to all rational numbers. We then cover adding, subtracting , simplifying and factoring algebraic expressions, followed by solving equations and inequalities. We then explore ratios, proportions and percents using many real world applications. We move onto probability and statistics, geometric shapes and angles, surface area and volume. We end by covering the 8th grade standards including systems of equations, exponents, scientific notation, square and cube roots and the Pythagorean Theorem.
